The blog! It'll have run away or set on fire or something by now!

OK so it's been a long time since anyone posted. That's what happens to a blog run by two terminal procrastination cases. A little about what's been going on the past month or so.

Dani returned to Canada, and started her starbucks job. I could really do with a caramel macchiato right now. I'm still looking for a new job and I'd better find one soon really.

My chipped tooth began to hurt severely about 2 weeks ago so I went to the dentist who temporarily filled it and told me to come back on the 20th of July for further treatment. Actually the first suggestion was to come back on the 13th but I didn't much fancy having oral surgery for my birthday. Depending on how this temporary filling works out (and thankfully it seems to be working out OK), they'll either be able to do a root canal or they'll have to extract it. It's a pretty sad state of affairs when you're hoping for a root canal.

It's insanely hot here at the moment and last night my soundcard died, presumably due to a digital form of heatstroke. Luckily I have a spare, and it wasn't my amp that had died as I first suspected. That would have sucked a lot.

I'm claiming back all my bank charges. If you're from the UK and you've ever been charged "penalty charges" by your bank for going over your overdraft limit, bouncing cheques, etc, then take a look at http://consumeractiongroup.co.uk/. According to UK law it's illegal to charge more for an administration fee than it costs the bank to deal with the issue. We all know it doesn't cost them £30 a time, and loads of people are getting their charges refunded. My one worry is that the bank might force me to close my account after paying me back, which they're really within their rights to do at any time. But hopefully it'll all work out.

I'm going to apply to the University of Sheffield to study some sort of engineering degree, and I'm leaning towards one of the combined degrees that offers Civil Engineering, Engineering Materials, and Mechanical Engineering in the first year to give more of a wide basis and will hopefully allow me to work out better what I want to do before specialising. I still want to take nuclear engineering modules though.

Oh, and I hear there's some sort of football tournament going on.

Don't fucking spill any!!!

(what we would say at the fabulous dinner parties where we'd serve £300 bottles of wine, if we were rich)

So we have concluded that
A) We are idiots. We couldn't find the digital camera (which I borrowed from my parents who have had it for only 14 mos after paying only $494 at a boxing week sale) for ages and ages. Then John realized we should hang our washing on the line. And what should tumble out of the clothes washer, but the digital camera!!! It's currently in the airing cupboard with every silica packet we could get our hands on, coated in prayers and wishes.
B) Pints at dinner + 1 bottle chickenwine whilst baking + 1 bottle Champagne + 1 hot bath (with delicious smelling bath 'spirits') = very drunken people who couldn't be serious and have a Romantic Night if we were paid. Especially if we were paid. Our perverse sides would just make us be obnoxious because we'd been told to do something. Plus alcohol makes us need viagra, and while John has some in his drug tin, we're loathe to 'waste' it. I mean, what if we need that little blue pill to conceive our children? (God help us me.)
C) Rowan truly are the yarn gods. John is rubbing the Right Front of a cardi I've just started knitting across his...er...lower abdomen...and he finally actually picked out some yarn out of which I will knit him a jumper. I think it's sort of ugly, but really, I don't have to wear it, right? I mean, I don't think he'd wear lavender. Unless he were on cam.
Cheers,
Dani

ps: Is it normal? When my boyfriend and I are drunk and get in the bath, we like to spit and urinate on each other. This does not turn us on. In fact, it makes him soft and me dry. But we both think its really funny and laugh til we fall over.

I'm Dani, and this is John.

We met on the internet five years ago, finally met in person in February 2006, and are thoroughly in love. For now, I live in Kingston, ON and John in Sheffield, S Yorks, UK (I love the addresses here!). We're hoping to rectify this discrepency in addresses in the next year or so.
John likes computers, making potions on his windowsill, Diet Coke and cakes. I like knitting, climbing, potato chips, and biting Revels open to find out the flavour before I put them in my mouth (or John's, depending on what's inside).
Neither of us has the energy (or capacity for commitment!) to a full-time blog, so we've decided that joint blog which will satisfy exactly none of the readers all of the time is the way to go. Sometimes about knitting and throwing myself off buildings, sometimes about dimethylhexabilueoguynmfliensnesine and overclocking! But always about rats and cats, tasty things to eat, and all things nerdy yet fascinating.
